Leafy 🅶🆁🅴🅴🅽🆂 to The Rescue!

While scrolling emails this morning, one caught my eye from Anthony Williams, The Medical Medium, and it was about leafy greens. Wow. What a great reminder to self, I thought. Then I thought, maybe I should write a blog post about this to help others know the power of these babies!

Here is a jaw dropping reminder and quote from Anthony:

“If you’re not getting enough leafy greens, the future of your health is in jeopardy. That might seem like a strong statement, but it’s the truth. If you’re not consuming enough raw leafy greens regularly, you will eventually experience some health challenges. Raw leafy greens, such as lettuce, spinach, swiss chard, mâche, watercress, collard greens, purslane and kale, are that critical for our wellbeing.” Anthony Williams

I for one will be picking some up today! I do tend to overlook these for some reason. So now it is time to change that.

Anthony also talks about the microorganisms in these leafy greens and how they are responsible for producing the ultimate methylated form of B12 that absorbs into the channels of our body and finds its way back to our liver when called for. Here is what he says about that: “this B12 is the liver’s number-one most important mortar to hold together all the bricks that build the castle of your health. When there’s enough of it, the liver stores ample amounts to send into the bloodstream as an assistant to almost every vitamin, mineral, and other nutrient that it releases to aid your body in any way. It’s the B12 that makes everything go right”.

Wow Go B12! I for one have been studying the effects of Vitamin B12 Deficiency for years and am allows encouraging people to get their B12 levels checked, so this hit home with me. B12 is CRUCIAL to our health and is synergistic in the uptake of all nutrients.

Sweeping The Intestinal Walls

Anthony also hits home on this powerful point:

“Additionally, raw leafy greens sweep the walls of the intestines, gently massaging your duodenum, small intestine, and colon, clearing away bad bacteria and rancid fats and proteins that have gone undigested for years. This build up is part of the reason someone can experience bloating or gastritis—and simply taking a probiotic isn’t going to fix it. Probiotics don’t kill bad bacteria. They don’t kill streptococcus or E.coli. A high quality probiotic definitely has a place in health, but they don’t do even a fraction of the healing work that elevated biotics do. The trace minerals found in leafy greens are prebiotics that feed good bacteria and kill off bad bacteria.”

Well like I said, I know what I am getting at the grocery store today. 🙂 Oh and Anthony says it is best to eat these raw…..

Quote from Anthony: Oftentimes people like to cook leafy greens, such as collard greens, spinach, bok choy, swiss chard, and kale. While these greens are incredibly healing in their raw form, it’s best to avoid cooking them. When leafy greens are steamed, sautéed, fried, roasted or cooked in any other way, it alters the naturally occurring oxalic acid (which is not at all harmful when leafy greens are raw) and makes it into a form that becomes less usable by the body. This is one reason leafy greens are best consumed raw.

Okay I hope this info inspired you as much as it inspired me to add in another powerful health enhancing idea to my day. This is how I see building on health… I try to add in more of the good stuff. It seems easier that way, than looking at everything from the point of ‘taking away’. 🙂

Celery Juice & Ear Infections

Ear infections are a nuisance and can be very painful.

In Anthony Williams book, “Celery Juice”, he says that ear infections are causes by the Streptococcus or Strep for short.

Anthony refers to most ear infections starting in childhood and often repeat rounds of antibiotics are used. He shares that Strep tends to build immunity to anitbiotics which would explain the resistance we see with ear infections to both healing and in that they recurr often.

Anthony says: “When strep is inside the ear in any way, it means it is in the lymphatic system. Celery juice’s sodium cluster salts are able to enter the lymphatic system quickly, easily, and efficiently – within hours of consumption. These cluster salts seek and destroy strep they find there to reduce the risk of future ear infections.

Once again celery juice is something that is so beneficial and is something I personally ingest on a regular basis.

Gallstones

So many people suffer from these nasty and painful stones. What the heck are they anyway?

Gallstones are hardened deposits of digestive fluid that can form in your gallbladder. Your gallbladder is a small, pear-shaped organ on the right side of your abdomen, just beneath your liver. The liver is key when it comes to gallstones. The gallbladder holds a digestive fluid called bile that’s released into your small intestine.

Gallstones range in size from as small as a grain of sand to as large as a golf ball. Some people develop just one gallstone, while others develop many gallstones at the same time.

Gallstones can be extremely painful.

In Anthony William’s book “Celery Juice”, he talks about how gallstones are created in the gallbladder but what creates them comes from the liver! When we have a toxic and overburdened liver, the liver cannot do its job. The liver is not meant to handle all that it does in this day and age. It has to deal with breaking down proteins and fats, viral sludge, bacteria, heavy metals, chemical compounds and more!

Anthony explains that when the liver gets overloaded it may pass along some of its overload to the gallbladder and thus passing along toxic material into the gallbladder. Because the gallbladder is cooler than the liver stones can be formed.

The good news is that once again celery juice may be of benefit. The mineral salts or sodium clusters salts as Anthony calls them, can help to break down the gallstones.

The more research I do on celery juice and its benefits the more impressed I am and the more I strive to drink it everyday. You just can’t lose in my opinion but only gain. One need only Google celery juice to see the millions of positive testimonials emerging. Wow. Awesome.

Chickpea Flour – Awesome!

I discovered using Chickpea flour about a year ago. I love chickpeas or garbanzo beans as they are also called so I just knew I would love the flour too!

Unlike all-purpose flour, chickpea flour is high in protein, fibre and micronutrients, while being low in carbohydrates and calories. Half a cup of chickpea flour contains an impressive 11 grams of protein, 5 grams of fibre, and nutrients like folate, iron, magnesium and zinc.

Chickpea flour is also heart-healthy. Chickpeas are high in soluble fibre as well as phytosterols (plant compounds that resemble cholesterol), both of which help lower LDL Cholesterol of Bad Cholesterol. I think of LDL as “Lousy Cholesterol” and HDL as Healthy Cholesterol. Reducing cholesterol can help lower blood pressure, thereby protecting against heart attack and stroke. Chickpeas also contain polyphenols, such as flavonoids, which have antioxidant properties and are anti-inflammatory.

It is great to use as an egg substitute when it comes to egg dishes like omelets, stratas and frittatas.

Liver Kindness – 5 Ways to Be Kind To Your Liver

Learning to love our livers is truly a life saving practise. The liver, until recently, with the surge of the Fatty Liver epidemic, has been far under appreciated in its role in our heath and in our life force.

In chinese medicine, the liver is associated with anger.  Anger being the “seat of the emotions” resides in the Liver, which is often described as the “Immature Child”. When one denies their feelings especially anger, it causes stagnation…. hence an angry person may have a red face and suffers from headaches. The liver is home to many deep seated emotions and by improving our liver health both physically and emotionally, it can have dramatic positive effects.

I have written a few articles about the liver and its role and function in our bodies and I will include them below. But for today I will share a few things you can do to be kind to your liver.

  1. Forgive Yourself. Let go of any negative self talk and forgive yourself for anything that you feel you need to. If you need to get help to do this, get it! Do whatever you need to do to become your own loving best friend. Nothing eats away at the liver more than self hatred or lack of compassion for oneself. You liver LOVES YOU and is always working for you best and highest good 24/7. It needs you on board. 🙂
  2. Deal with Anger. If you find you are irritable or tend to become angry a lot, you may want to pay extra attention to working at supporting your liver. Anger and irritability can be a BIG clue that you have a liver that is not functioning at an optimal level and don’t feel bad, most people are dealing with compromised livers in this day and age. We have way too much stress, toxic exposure, dealing with heavy metals, poor diet choices, exposure to chemicals in fragrances and products, etc. Clean up your liver (see articles below) and get help to support your emotional health.
  3. Find Peace. It can’t be stressed enough that peace and lowered stress levels are integral to your health when it comes to body, mind and spirit! Find ways in your day to decompress (in a healthy way :-)) and to back off the adrenaline. Adrenaline can act like a poison in the body and creates more toxicity and burden on the liver. Actively work at finding peaceful moments in your day. It is extremely important to do this!
  4. Lemons. Lemons. Lemons. Start your day with warm lemon water with honey and incorporate lemons into your day anytime you can! Lemons and limes are God’s gifts for the liver! Here is a quote from Anthony Williams, Medical Medium who is an advocate of lemon water:
    “Lemon water is the perfect way to hydrate, purify, and revitalize your body each morning. Water coming straight from the tap or a bottle has lost its vitality and its innate living structure. By adding fresh squeezed lemon juice, you “wake up” the water and bring it back to life. This allows it to travel more deeply into your tissues & cells and carry the essential nutrients and compounds you need in order to thrive. Lemon water is a good source of vitamins C & B and minerals such as calcium and magnesium. Lemon water is excellent for weight loss, the immune system, alkalinizing the body, controlling high blood pressure, anti-aging, detoxification, purifying the blood, and regulating body temperature. Lemon water is particularly beneficial for the digestive tract and can help relieve constipation, nausea, and even parasites. Lemon water is also good for the cardiovascular and muscular system making it an ideal drink before and after exercise. Consider an early morning ritual of squeezing half a lemon into 16oz of your best quality water upon waking. This deep form of hydration will awaken your mind and energize your body for the day.” ***************** I am sure you can see why I recommend lemons in any way shape or form. 🙂 Squeeze them on salads, in water, and on different foods. They really bring out the flavors in foods. Get creative with them.
  5. Move Your Lymphatic System. Find ways to incorporate movement that helps with lymphatic drainage. Your lymph system, unlike the circulatory system, does not have its own pump, so it needs us to help move it along. The more it is helped, the less the burden on your liver! There are many ways to move lymph but some easy ones are walking, exercise, rebounding, using a whole body vibration machine, massage therapy, dancing and more! Find something that works for you and make sure you do it everyday.

What To Do With That Celery Juice Pulp!

For all of us on the celery juice train or movement, I am sure we have all experienced this or thought about this, especially in the beginning. What do I do with this pulp I have leftover after juicing my celery?

I can always tell now when people are new to celery juicing because this topic comes up. After awhile most of just get to the point where we toss it. Day after day of juicing kind of makes you detach from the pulp. lol

However, there can be good uses for the pulp so I thought I would share some here. And I will let you know that I got some of these from a thread on a group post. I love how people are so willing to share information and how we can all help each other. And I am sure no one minds me sharing these because these ideas just help everyone so why not 🙂 I am inspired to try some of these and I am going to juice my celery now so I can take a pulp picture for this blog post! lol

So here we go on with some ideas…..

First I will start with a few things I have done. I have put it in a soup that I made with potatoes, onions and carrots, etc. And then turned it into a creamy soup by blending it. Very yummy. Use garlic too and you increase the health benefits. It’s a very soothing soup.

I have also added it into hummus ie. mixed it with blended chickpeas 🙂

Here are some ideas from others:

Hamilton Beach® Big Mouth 2-Speed Juice Extractor

I’m saving the pulp for veggie broth plus onion skins, a bag of carrot pulp, and other veggies I froze. Gonna boil them up and can into quarts.

I usually juice my celery, then make a separate juice either for myself or my hubby with carrots, apples, cucumber, parsley and put all the pulp together, throw it in a food processor with some garbanzos, salt and pepper, dried herbs and any other seasoning I find fun, I blend it, adding a little bit of juice I just made or water… then lay it out flat on a tray lined with parchment paper, and put in the oven at a low temp to dehydrate and make crackers. They’re actually pretty tasty! You can have the crackers with avocado or hummus or salsa

Sometimes mix it into pet food….or I make muffins out of it …my friends love them .

I use it to make my own celery spice. Just dry it in the oven on the lowest for like 7-10 hours, depending on how much it is and how dry it is. Then I mix it in the blender. Use with everything! 😍

My horse loves it more than any other food

Feed it to my chickens!🐔

I add it to my smoothies.

**** My favorite one: You can dry it and crush it, and use it as salt 🙂

 I use it to thicken soups or chili’s

My Client’s Success with Celery Juice!!!

Celery Juice is the latest health hack and for good reason. People everywhere are drinking their daily 16 oz of celery juice and seeing tremendous benefits especially with digestion.

One of my clients started on the celery juice some time back and has had great results with acid reflux! She messaged me yesterday and it made me very happy!  I will share her message below and her NP is her Nurse Practitioner by the way…

Client: “Omg !!! I totally forgot to tell you about my NP visit !! I know you’ll be excited by it too. I don’t have to take my acid reflux medication daily any more.
