The Christmas Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing

The other day my 14 year old daughter, Sivanna, decided that she wanted to make a hot chocolate station in our kitchen. This would include hot chocolate mix, marshmallows, snacks and of course festive cups to drink the hot chocolate out of.

So she went ahead and made her hot chocolate area and it was a cute idea. She asked about getting some Christmas mugs or cups to put in the collection. I then remembered that I had donated the ones we had last year to charity. Something just did not feel right about these mugs.

Speed ahead to today. I opened my email this morning to see an email from Tamara Rubin “Lead Safe Mama” whom I follow because of my work with heavy metals and health.

Sure enough she has a whole article on the tops of Christmas cups and decorations called:

“Hello! I’m here to ruin Christmas for you! Do you know how toxic your Christmas decorations are?”

You can read the post here:

Tamara’s picture of Holiday items and the heavy metals found in them with a link to her post.

These heavy metals are everywhere! And when it comes to our children we need to be very aware of them.

I recently wrote two posts about heavy metals and children.

One was on heavy metals and ADHD and ADD and the other was on Autism.

Here are the links for these:

Unfortunately heavy metals are with us to stay. Unlike biodegradable materials, heavy metals never break down so we must learn how to navigate our world with these metals in it and do our best to avoid them at all costs!

The best tool that I have found for testing for heavy metals in the body and brain and well as for indicators or nutrient deficiencies is hair mineral analysis testing. You can learn more about that here if you are interested:

Heavy Metals & ADHD

It seems that not a day goes by and I am presented with information around heavy metals and the havoc they wreak!

This morning I ran across this article about Heavy Metals and ADHD. It is from:

and is titled: “Heavy Metals’ Effect on Susceptibility to Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder: Implication of Lead, Cadmium, and Antimony”

I will post the link at the bottom of this post for your reference.

Here is an Abstract from the study but in simple terms those with ADHD were tested and high levels of heavy metals were present.

Abstract:

Background: Heavy metals are known to be harmful for neurodevelopment and they may correlate to attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). In this study, we aim to explore the relationships between multiple heavy metals (manganese, lead, cadmium, mercury, antimony, and bismuth), neurocognitive function, and ADHD symptoms. Methods: We recruited 29 patients with ADHD inattentive type (ADHD-I), 47 patients with ADHD hyperactivity/impulsivity type (ADHD-H/I), and 46 healthy control children. Urine samples were obtained to measure the levels of the aforementioned heavy metals in each child. Participants’ cognitive function and clinical symptoms were assessed, respectively. Results: We found ADHD-H/I patients demonstrated the highest antimony levels (p = 0.028), and ADHD-I patients demonstrated the highest cadmium levels (p = 0.034). Antimony levels were positively correlated with the severity of ADHD symptoms that were rated by teachers, and cadmium levels were negatively correlated with the Full Scale Intelligence Quotient. Lead levels were negatively correlated with most indices of the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children–Fourth Edition (WISC-IV), but positively correlated with inattention and hyperactivity/impulsivity symptoms (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Lead, cadmium and antimony were associated with susceptibility to ADHD and symptom severity in school-age children. Eliminating exposure to heavy metals may help to prevent neurodevelopmental disorders in children.

The question becomes what do we do about this? The first thing I recommend is testing for the presence of heavy metals in the body and brain and the testing I use as a Board Certified Nutritionist, is Hair Mineral Analysis.

Hair Mineral Analysis is a screening test to measure the levels of up to 60 essential minerals and toxic metals. With correct testing and interpretation, one can construct a comprehensive metabolic profile of the human body and in turn develop a protocol for helping to remove these heavy metals from the body and balance nutrients.

If you would like more info about the Hair Mineral Analysis testing, you can find it here:

Once results are received it is much easier to come up with a game plan based on variables such as nutrient deficiencies present, types of heavy metals and the overall toxic load.

It is unfortunate that we have to deal with so many toxic intruders and outside pathogens that can interfere with optimal health; however, luckily, when we identify them, we can work at elimination and also use nutritional intervention to offset various deficiencies etc.

As always, I hope that you found this helpful and feel free to reach out with any questions you might have for me. I am always happy to help.

Link to Autism & Heavy Metals via Baby Teeth Analysis in Twins

About 1 in 54 children has been identified with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) according to estimates from the Centre for Disease Control.

There has been a lot of research conducted around Autism Spectrum Disorder and I found a good resource in regard to heavy metals and autism. It is from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences. I will post the link below and I highly recommend reading the full article.

Here is an exerpt:

The researchers observed higher levels of lead in children with autism throughout development, with the greatest disparity observed during the period following birth. They also observed lower uptake of manganese in children with autism, both before and after birth. The pattern was more complex for zinc. Children with autism had lower zinc levels earlier in the womb, but these levels then increased after birth, compared to children without autism.

The researchers note that replication in larger studies is needed to confirm the connection between metal uptake and autism.

“We think autism begins very early, most likely in the womb, and research suggests that our environment can increase a child’s risk. But by the time children are diagnosed at age 3 or 4, it’s hard to go back and know what the moms were exposed to,” said Cindy Lawler, Ph.D., head of the NIEHS Genes, Environment, and Health Branch. “With baby teeth, we can actually do that.”

Patterns of metal uptake were compared using teeth from 32 pairs of twins and 12 individual twins. The researchers compared patterns in twins where only one had autism, as well as in twins where both or neither had autism. Smaller differences in the patterns of metal uptake occurred when both twins had autism. Larger differences occurred in twins where only one sibling had autism.

The findings build on prior research showing that exposure to toxic metals, such as lead, and deficiencies of essential nutrients, like manganese, may harm brain development while in the womb or during early childhood. Although manganese is an essential nutrient, it can also be toxic at high doses. Exposure to both lead and high levels of manganese has been associated with autism traits and severity.

Heavy metals are very much present in our world today. I myself, have tested very high in lead.

One of the ways to help determine the presence of heavy metals and nutrient deficiencies which can come about through displacement when heavy metals are present, is through Hair Mineral Analysis testing.

This is a service that I have provided for a few years now and find it very helpful for anyone interested in their health or the health of their children.

The lab that I use is licensed by the Ontario Ministry of Health and you can learn more about hair mineral analysis here:

Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or would like to chat about this and as always, I hope that you found this helpful in some way.

Eye Floaters, Celery Juice & Heavy Metals

Eye floaters are spots or dots that appear in your vision and you seem to have to chase them in your vision.

I remember the first time I had eye floaters when I didn’t know what they were. I thought it was a little bug or fly in my kitchen and I kept trying to catch it. 🙂 I eventually realized that the object I was chasing was in my vision and asked around about what was happening to me (this was pre Google) and found out about eye floaters.

Although these are often harmless, they can sometimes indicate a serious condition so if your eye floaters persist be sure to visit your eye doctor for a proper examination.

As for eye health, nutrients are important for eye health, just as nutrients are important for all organs and body parts that we have.

I have been drinking daily celery juice and now realize that I no longer have eye floaters and I also have had an improvement in my eye sight.

I was reading today in Anthony Williams book “Medical Medium Celery Juice” this:

“Celery juice helps with eye floaters by reducing inflammation that occurs on the optic nerve – which is what’s responsible for this mystery symptom that confuses medical research ad science. White spots, flares, white flashes, or black spots that occur without noticeable damager to the retina, pupil, or any other part of the eye are the result of neurotoxins from the Epstein-Barr virus, combined with heavy metals such as mercury, inflaming the optic nerve.

The powerful flavonoids and vitamin C that travel with celery juice’s sodium cluster salts and specific nerves in and around the brain, including the optic nerve. They disperse neurotoxins that have been sitting on the nerve, and they even protect the nerve from viral invasion while feeding nerve cells, allowing the optic nerve to rejuvenate.”

Some of the most important nutrients for eye health

The most important nutrients for eye health include:

  • Vitamins C, A, and E.
  • Zinc.
  • Selenium.
  • Anthocyanins.
  • DHA.

It is interesting to note that when I do hair mineral analysis testing for clients to determine the presence of heavy metals in the body and brain as well as checking for nutrient deficiencies and imbalances, we almost always see low levels of Zinc and Selenium!

I personally supplement with all of the above mentioned nutrients as well my daily 16 ounces of celery juice.

There are two supplements that I highly recommend for eye health and general health. If you are looking to support your eye health and your health in general you might want to consider taking a look at these two in particular. They are beneficial for eye health and so much more!

Here is the first and it has the anthocyanins in it plus so much more! You can click on the picture or this link to go to see the ingredients, benefits, reviews and science behind the product. https://ca.shop.com/THESHOPCONSULTANT/Isotonix+OPC+3+-559110168-p+.xhtml?credituser=R1159126

Isotonix OPC3

Next is one of the most important nutrients of our time. Vitamin C! This one is delivered in a delicious drinkable form as well and taste great. You can even mix the OPC-3 and Vitamin C together and along with any other Isotonix supplements. I drink these every morning and have for 23 years!

Fruit, heavy metals, Micronutrients, Oranges, Vitamin C

Say Y♥E♥S to Oranges! 💋♡

Lately I have fallen More in Love with Oranges! And why not? With all this talk of the coronavirus and just colds and flus in general, it is always good to incorporate more micro-nutrients that come from things such as fruits and veggies into your daily life.

Oranges are ˜”°•.˜”°• AMAZING •°”˜.•°”˜ and are not only absolutely delicious but are also nutritional powerhouses! We all know they are loaded with good old Vitamin C, but there is so much more to oranges.

I am always learning from Anthony Williams, The Medical Medium, and here are some things he says about oranges:

Protect Against Viruses & Heavy Metals

. Oranges (and their cousins, tangerines and grapefruits) are full of the coenzyme glutathione, which goes into activation because of their high content of flavonoids and limonoids. Together, glutathione, flavonoids, and limonoids fight off viruses, protect the body from radiation damage, and deactivate toxic heavy metals in the system.

Calcium

. Oranges and tangerines are also abundant in a form of bioactive calcium you can’t get anywhere else. The body instantly absorbs this calcium, which means that these citrus beauties actually help regrow teeth, not destroy them.

Kidney & Gallstones

Their acid content is not destructive; rather, it works for you by dissolving kidney stones and gallstones.

Liver Love!

. Oranges and tangerines: Provide a combination of calcium and vitamin C; when both are combined from the same food source, the liver can use both better than it could from separate sources.

PhytoNutrients/Vitamins/Minerals/MicroNutrients

. Oranges have been called a “perfect food” and contain an amazing array of healing vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and phytonutrients. They are high in vitamin C, vitamin A, B-complex vitamins, folate, beta carotene, lutein, and minerals such as calcium, magnesium, iron, and potassium.

Cancer/High Blood Pressure/Viral Infections/Constipation/Strong Teeth/Macular Degeneration

. Oranges have been known to help prevent cancer, lower high blood pressure, fight off viral infections, relieve constipation, keep bones and teeth strong, prevent kidney stones and macular degeneration.

Prevent Acidosis/Remove Toxic Debris From Colon

. Oranges are rich in lime and alkaline salts that help to counteract and prevent acidosis in the body. They are also excellent for the digestive tract and help to remove toxic debris from the colon through enhanced peristaltic action.

Eye & Lung Function

. Oranges contain a significant amount of glutathione which is critical for healthy eye and lung function

Respiratory Issues/Cardiovascular Support

. Oranges are very good for respiratory problems such as asthma or bronchitis and cardiovascular issues such as hypertension and COPD.

Purify/Natural Antiseptic/Strengthen Organs

. Oranges act as an internal antiseptic to the body and have the ability to purify and strengthen all the organs in the body.

Colds & Flu

. Oranges contain anti-inflammatory and anti-viral properties which are particularly beneficial for those suffering with a cold or flu or an auto-immune disorder such as shingles, arthritis, IBS, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, and raynaud’s disease.

Weight Loss

. Oranges are an excellent weight loss food due to their high pectin content which also helps to reduce blood cholesterol.

Notes on Oranges:

. Fresh squeezed orange juice is a predigested food and allows for immediate absorption of all it’s abundant healing properties.

. Oranges are an ideal “fast food”, easy to transport, delicious to eat, and provide a steady form of energy throughout the day.

. be aware that orange juice will lose the majority of its vitamin C content within 30 minutes of being squeezed, so for optimum results drink immediately

. Whole oranges, peeled or cut in slices, are the best option as the fiber and pith is where so many of the phytonutrients and healing properties are contained.

There you have it. I for one bought two cases of oranges yesterday and have been on an orange fest. I hope that you too, delight in these amazing, nutritional powerhouses that are truly gifts from the Gods! EnJOY!

heavy metals, Lead

Heavy Metals

Heavy metals are a huge issue in our world today. Even the elementary schools in Ontario, where I reside, have recently been studied and revealed unsafe levels of lead in their drinking water.

Link to article re: Ontario Schools and Lead

Heavy Metals are no small matter.

I found this in Anthony Williams book “Medical Medium Celery Juice”

“Heavy metals and heavy metal oxidation are undiscovered leading causes of brain fog, memory loss, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and autism as well as sever mental and physical deterioration such as Alzheimer’s, ALS, and Parkinsons.”

High levels of toxic metals like  lead, mercury, cadmium, arsenic, nickel, and aluminum, inhibit the bodies ability to process and assimilate specific nutritional elements that are essential to good health. ” Anthony Williams

Heavy metals are just plain nasty and the problems from them are getting worse. One of the best ways to determine your heavy metal load as well as nutrient deficiency is through Hair Mineral Analysis. Here is a link to more info on that:

celery juice, Gallstones, Liver, liver health

Gallstones

So many people suffer from these nasty and painful stones. What the heck are they anyway?

Gallstones are hardened deposits of digestive fluid that can form in your gallbladder. Your gallbladder is a small, pear-shaped organ on the right side of your abdomen, just beneath your liver. The liver is key when it comes to gallstones. The gallbladder holds a digestive fluid called bile that’s released into your small intestine.

Gallstones range in size from as small as a grain of sand to as large as a golf ball. Some people develop just one gallstone, while others develop many gallstones at the same time.

Gallstones can be extremely painful.

In Anthony William’s book “Celery Juice”, he talks about how gallstones are created in the gallbladder but what creates them comes from the liver! When we have a toxic and overburdened liver, the liver cannot do its job. The liver is not meant to handle all that it does in this day and age. It has to deal with breaking down proteins and fats, viral sludge, bacteria, heavy metals, chemical compounds and more!

Anthony explains that when the liver gets overloaded it may pass along some of its overload to the gallbladder and thus passing along toxic material into the gallbladder. Because the gallbladder is cooler than the liver stones can be formed.

The good news is that once again celery juice may be of benefit. The mineral salts or sodium clusters salts as Anthony calls them, can help to break down the gallstones.

The more research I do on celery juice and its benefits the more impressed I am and the more I strive to drink it everyday. You just can’t lose in my opinion but only gain. One need only Google celery juice to see the millions of positive testimonials emerging. Wow. Awesome.

Labrador Tea & Mercury Removal

This summer I was fortunate enough to meet Joseph Pitawanakwat from The Creators Garden. You can read his bio here

It was a fascinating day spent learning both lecture style and out in the bush hands on learning about some medicinal plants that we are fortunate enough to have here in and around The Great Lakes.

Although the focus that day was not specifically about Labrador Tea, I did find his blog post about it and it blew me away! Especially for the fact of his reference to Mercury removal from the body and brain, as I work with clients and help them with identifying the presence of heavy metals in the body and brain and in the removal of these nasty buggers.

His blog post is loaded with good info about the benefits of Labrador Tea and covers all about mercury and how difficult in can be to remove from the brain. *Labrador Tea to the Rescue* Here is the link:

You can read the full article but here is a snippet of just some of the other amazing benefits of Labrador Tea from Joe’s blog post:

Labrador tea at concentration levels that of a cup a mild tasting tea improves insulin sensitivity by reducing blood glucose levels by 13%, reduced the response to oral glucose tolerance test by 18.2% and reduced plasma insulin by 65%. Also induces a 42% reduction in hepatic triglyceride levels, Stimulates glucose metabolism (akt pathway) by 55% and increases GLUT4 (skeletal muscle glucose transporter) expression by 54%. All while improving renal function and lowering adipogenesis.

I for one will be heading out to the bush pronto to find what I need to make this tea. I already have an idea of who will take me and show me what I need. I will share back with you all on how that goes.

If you are at all concerned, (and you should be) about heavy metals and would like to learn more about the best way to test for the presence of heavy metals in the body as well as nutrient deficiencies which are often caused by the evidence of heavy metals in the body (heavy metals can displace minerals), here is a link to what I use with my clients:

I would love to hear any and all feedback you have on using Labrador Tea. I think it is quite common. It is my wish that more of us tap into the power of these plants medicines.

hair mineral analysis, heavy metals, Toxicity

Heavy Metals & Their Role In Toxicity

The term heavy metals refers to any metallic chemical element that has a relatively high density and is toxic or poisonous at low concentrations. Examples of heavy metals include mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd), arsenic (As), chromium (Cr), thallium (Tl), and lead (Pb).

Here is a link to a Pubmed article that shares a really in-depth explanation of heavy metals, their role, and where they come from in our environment.

Heavy metals in the body and brain are a real concern. How does one find out if they have the presence of heavy metals in their body? We cannot see inside our bodies, and so just like our family physician needs to run blood work to assess cholesterol, sugar levels, triglycerides and the like, we can use a form of testing to check for this. A Hair Mineral Analysis test can help us to see our unique mineral foundation and possible toxic exposure and toxic load that may be comprised of excesses heavy metals in combination with nutrient deficiencies.

Hair Mineral Analysis screens the levels of up to 60 essential minerals and toxic metals. With correct testing and interpretation, one can construct a comprehensive metabolic profile of the human body.

Hair is an excellent biopsy material. It is easy to sample, easily preserved and transported, represents a soft tissue of the body, and is a storage and eliminative tissue. As hair grows it forms a permanent record of the body’s nutritional deficiencies or excesses.

This information, along with dietary and nutritional evaluations, will provide the basis for a nutritional balancing program to establish and maintain optimal levels of wellness. By correcting tissue mineral levels and ratios with proper diet, supplementary nutrients and lifestyle modifications, many physical and behavioral health conditions can be prevented or reversed.

Minerals screened include electrolytes – calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium and phosphorus and trace minerals – copper, manganese, chromium, selenium, iron, molybdenum, lithium, cobalt, and zinc.

It is important to note that heavy metals in the body can displace minerals creating nutrient deficiencies or excesses. Nutrition is a lot more complicated than people realize and the idea of just ‘eating right’ no longer fits the paradigm of the world we live in. We are exposed to toxins, pollution, pathogens, and more. The game of health has entirely changed and we need to be an active proponent in the game of detection.

If you are at all concerned about the presence of heavy metals and the possibility of nutrient deficiencies in your own body, and are interested in learning more about Hair Mineral Analysis testing, here is link to the information:

Hair Mineral Analysis & Your Health

Minerals in the body are involved in almost all enzyme reactions, metabolic activity, and detoxification cycles. They are vital for the effective absorption and proper functioning of nutrients and vitamins.

Our bodies cannot utilize vitamins, and other nutrients, without a correct balance of minerals, even in trace amounts. Proper mineral balance is essential to avoid chronic fatigue, weight gain/loss, headaches, depression, and osteoporosis.

Mineral imbalances are also linked to oxidative stress that can lead to some cancers!!!

Today’s North American diet has become devoid of adequate quantities of essential minerals. When mineral deficiencies occur, toxic metals often replace these vital minerals in the body. Because of today’s highly industrialized society, we are exposed to toxic metals every day.

The presence of toxic metals in the body has been implicated in the onset of chronic ailments such as Alzheimer’s disease, ADD/ADHD, diabetes, autism and Parkinson’s disease as well as infertility and miscarriage. The addition of essential minerals can expel toxic metals.

Various mineral imbalances, as revelead by hair analysis, frequently lead to metabolic dysfunctions before any physical symptoms manifest.

An affordable, non-invasive Hair Mineral Analysis can help establish a nutritional profile to be used by you and your health practitioner to guide in the development of effective wellness and nutritional balancing regimen.

Hair Mineral Analysis

Hair Mineral Analysis is a screening test to measure the levels of up to 60 essential minerals and toxic metals. With correct testing and interpretation, one can construct a complete metabolic profile of the human body.

Hair is an excellent biopsy material. It is easy to sample, easily preserved and transported, represents a soft tissue of the body and is a storage and eliminative tissue. As hair grows it forms a permanent record of the body’s nutritional deficiencies or excesses.

Minerals screened include calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, phosporus, copper, zinc, manganese, selenium, iron and cobalt.

Elevated readings can have different meanings depending upon:

  1. Present Symptoms
  2. The Elevated Mineral in Question
  3. Whether a specific treatment, regimen or diet is being followed
  4. Relationship to other elemental readings

Toxic metals screening includes lead, mercury, cadmium, arsenic, nickel, and aluminum.

A very high reading may represent a toxic amount of the mineral in the hair, and in the body tissues in general. In the case of a toxic metal, any deposition or accumulation in the hair indicates some degree of toxicity.

High levels of toxic metals inhibit the body’s ability to process and assimilte specific nutritional elements that are essential to good health and have a proven link to many types of diseases.

The information along with dietary and nutritional evaluations will provide the data needed for a nutritional balancing program to establish and maintain optimal levels of wellness. By correcting tissue mineral levels and ratios with proper diet, supplementary nutrients, and lifestyle modifications, many physical and behavioral health conditions can be prevented or reversed.

Health Problems that may be associated with mineral imbalances or toxic metal excesses:

  • ADD/ADHD
  • Autism
  • Allergies
  • Alzheimer’s disease
  • Anxiety & Depression
  • Arthritis
  • Arteriosclerosis
  • Blood Sugar Imbalances
  • Digestive Disorders
  • Headaches including migraines
  • Hair Loss
  • Heart Failure
  • Hyperactivity
  • Hypertension (high blood pressure)
  • Inability to lose weight
  • Infertility and Miscarriage
  • Insomnia
  • Learning Disabilities
  • Lethargy or weakness
  • Muscle Weakness
  • Osteoporosis (brittle bones)
  • Parkinson’s disease

A hair mineral analysis professional lab test provides results in the measurement of 15 toxic elements and 25 nutritional elements and is documented in an easy to read report, tabulated against similar control groups based on age/gender similarities.

These reports are one of my best go-to tools to use to better serve my clients in regards to fast tracking and finding the clues to better health. I highly recommend these reports that come from an accredited lab using state-of-the-art laboratory equipment and today’s most modern testing practices for precision results.
