- Seek Sunshine. EnJOY a good book or a magazine while sitting in the sun.
- 🎀 💙 🎀
- Visualize Self Love. Sit under a warm blanket and visualize that blanket wrapping you
- with love and warmth.
- 🎀 💙 🎀
- Treat yourself with gentleness and kindness by speaking kindly to yourself in a gentle voice.
- 🎀 💙 🎀
- Go out for lunch or dinner BY YOURSELF. See this as an act of spending time with your best friend – YOU. EnJOY your own company and reflect on all the things that bring you JOY and plan to do more of those.
- 🎀 💙 🎀
- Master a new recipe that is healthy for you. Feel and enJOY the sense of accomplishment you feel from doing this and be excited that you now have a healthy go-to recipe for those busy times.
- 🎀 💙 🎀
- Let Go. Let go of self-judgment even if you give yourself a time period. Ex. I am allowed not to judge myself for the next hour while I am doing this task. Eventually not judging yourself will become a habit.

- Be childlike in your wonder. See things as though they are the first time you are seeing them. Get excited about that shiny red apple or the sun’s rays dancing on the wall.
One of my favorite self-care modalities is going for regular Reflexology sessions. Not only do I find it so beneficial for my health and wellness, but it’s so relaxing! And I am one of those people who love having my feet touched, rubbed, and given attention :-), so this works for me.
You may have seen a reflexology chart before that shows these areas of connection. For example, the ball of the foot is connected to the heart and chest while the lower back and intestines are connected to the heel of the foot. Reflexology dates back to at least ancient Egypt. Illustrations on tomb walls show physicians using the foot to heal the entire body. Over time, this practice has evolved, and today modern research backs up the premise that these points exist. (http://reflexology-usa.net/history.htm)
Reflexology and massage often go hand in hand, but they aren’t the same thing. Massage can take place all over the body and focuses on the soft tissue in the body such as muscles and fascia. Reflexology is a specialized practice that focuses on the reflex points in the hands, feet, and ears, whereas massage often takes place over the entire body.
Acupressure is another similar healing art, but it is also different from reflexology. Acupressure addresses energy lines called meridians. With this practice there are 14 long lines of energy that run the length of the body and there are hundreds of pressure points along these lines.
Some of these pressure points are found along the feet, hands, and ears. However, there are relatively few compared to pressure points found throughout the entire body. Again, reflexology focuses only on the feet, hands, and ears.
Reflexology may be combined with massage or acupressure, but it can stand alone as well. Some reflexologists choose to get certified in multiple therapies while others work only in reflexology.
Reflexology has been known to have health benefits for thousands of years. It can help to improve physical and mental health by reducing the effects of stress and anxiety. It can provide relief from headaches and other forms of pain. It can improve blood pressure, circulation, and can be used to combat the symptoms from cancer and cancer treatment.
This healing art can improve your sleep, increase your energy, and assist with improving your mood. If you suffer from mental health issues, arthritis, diabetes or a neurological condition you’ll find that reflexology is complementary therapy.
As far as side effects go, reflexology has relatively few. Some people report having sensitivity in their feet after a session. You might also experience fatigue, a runny nose, or coughing afterward. This is because the practice of reflexology can release toxins and your body will work to rid itself of those. Side effects usually last less than a day and are rarely serious.
I highly recommend this wonderful modality

“When a woman becomes her own best friend life is easier.”
― Diane Von Furstenberg
Yesterday I bought these organic grapes and by the looks of them, they need to be eaten soon. I love all the stages of ripeness to fruit, each one offering their different delights and benefits.
What really made me smile about these grapes, is the shining one. I thought it was so awesome and a great example of something we can apply to our own unique selves. This grape was lit up by the sun and I am so in love with the sun lately. The more I connect with that thought, the more I know at a deep level, how healing the sun is for us and how it can infuse healing properties into plants!
We too can be lit up and let our lights shine! We can too be our unique selves, in different stages of life and life’s challenges and glories. No matter where we are at it life, we have the opportunity to rise again and let our internal lights shine. Can you see how beautiful that shining grape is? That is you in all your glory, shining from within.
How do we do this? We do it through self-acceptance, self-forgiveness, self-love, intention, and by believing that we are truly capable of letting that inner light out for the world to see. If you need to forgive yourself for something, do it! If you need to treat yourself more kind, do it! Do whatever you need to do to transition to this ‘lighter’ place.
Today I encourage you to let the world see your light, even if it is one shining beam at a time until you can light up your entire being. Keep the vision of this grape in your mind and know that by allowing your inner light to shine, you too can light up your soul and shine on, allowing the entire world to see your divine essence and beauty!

Compassion, Kindness and Forgiveness, are three Blessings we can offer ourselves and the world.
One of the greatest challenges people have is in loving themselves… truly loving themselves.
Self-Love is actually a form of Self-Medicine and should be put on the highest of highest priorities. In fact, if you have been hurt by others or even abused in some way shape, or form, it is even more important to learn self-love to balance out those energies. It is the ultimate paradox. The more pain one goes through, the more important it is that they heal through self-love, yet it appears harder to reach.
I invite you to entertain a new way of thinking. Over on my other blog (MaggieHolbikBlog) I have written about ‘Instant Forgiveness’ “Instant Forgiveness” for yourself and others because the moment we forgive, we give to ourselves the gift of the release of pain and suffering.” I also touch on self-love in this post. Here is the link Self-Love & Instant Forgiveness Blog Post
What if we entertained the thought of “Instant Self-Love”? We are in a time of quantum physics that includes time and space. Things do not need take a lifetime to achieve. I personally believe we are MUCH more powerful than we realize and we can truly change our lives in an instant. It does not have to be a drawn out and long painful process unless we choose that.
Many people seek love from others while neglecting themselves and then they pay the price of disempowerment and victim hood. Underneath this quest for love from outside ourselves is usually a feeling of not being worthy and not approving of ourselves. I invite you to look at the feelings you harbour around this and to use them as a catalyst for turning it around. Yes as a catalyst!! The more you feel inadequate or the more you have been ‘hurt’ by others, the more I suggest you say “dammit, I must love myself even more”. We’ve all heard the saying “If it’s to be, it’s up to me”. It is crucial in this case. I often think ‘man if we are not our own best friends, then who is?’
What ways can you show yourself self-love right now in this moment so that you can get your self-love train going. It’s no secret that the law of attraction always attracts more so the more you get the ball rolling, the more it rolls!
Here are some suggestions but there are many more available to you… endless in fact as we live in an infinite universe, but here are some starters:
Say “I Love Me”! “I Love Myself”
Smile at yourself in the mirror.
Give yourself a hug… right now. Just do it!
Talk to your 5 year old self and tell him/her that you are an adult now and you have their back.
Learn forgiveness…. it’s really about you and not them. Be Selfish ok? 🙂
Read, Watch, Listen to things that tickles your soul and makes you ‘feel good’.
Avoid things that spread fear, doubt and the darker side of life.
Watch sunsets and sunrises as often as you can. They remind us that the sun always rises again.
En-JOY life as much as you can. LOVE life and it will LOVE you back. This my friends is the highest form of Self-Love that you can achieve.

Today one of the biggest types of stress, is emotional stress. Emotional stress plays on our body, mind and soul. Have you ever felt emotionally drained? Or have your spirits been dampened to the point that you give up on something that you loved or enjoyed doing?
It’s easy to ignore emotional stress and we usually wait until it’s too late . We lead busy, hectic lives and we often put the needs of others first before our own self-care. We are the first to hop to the aid of whoever needs our help, children, spouse, neighbor, friend, school fundraiser, pet, etc. etc. etc. The list goes on and on.
When we go on and on and on giving and creating an energetic output without allowing for an energetic input or re-charge, to put it simply our batteries get drained and sometimes to the point that ‘we stop working’. We don’t want to let that happen. The best thing we can do for others IS to take care of ourselves.
Think about what happens when we don’t. Often we will feel grudeful, resentful, and even bitter toward those that we love most. Yet the answer is so simple. When we are happy, those around us tend to be happier so we are doing a DISSERVICE to ourselves and everyone when we do not take time for self-care and self-love.
If we look at self-care as mandatory instead of optional, it frees us to do more for ourselves and to enjoy it! When we enjoy we are in-Joy! I firmly believe we are here on earth to experience Joy. We are very good at experiencing many other emotions such as lack, fear, disappointment, grief, and more, but when it comes to Joy people often feel they are not deserving of it. This is so far from the truth. The truth is that we are meant to be joyous and loving beings and it starts with loving and delighting in the things that brings us joy.
What are some ways you could work on relieving some of your emotional stress by taking time for yourself?
Here is a short video I did awhile back about finding Joy and following your heart by using your Joy Meter. Perhaps you will be inspired by this. https://www.facebook.com/holbik/videos/10154969367120479/
I would love to hear from you ways that you take time for self-care and self-love. For me as an example, I finally got to that sought after place, where I felt I loved my body and had gratitude for it, but now I SHOW my body that I love it and that has made a huge difference in my self-care. I now enjoy yoga, meditation, walks, trying new recipes and more. All of these acts are acts of self-love and self-care and bring me Joy.
What about you? What is good for you?
